The objective of the project is to rehabilitate one of the defensive towers that were built along the coast in the 18th century and also convert it into the gateway to the Cabo de Gata Natural Park.
With these two objectives we propose the elimination of all subsequent constructions unrelated to the tower, marking its presence as a landscape landmark in contrast to the horizon line.
The desire to convert the Tower into an access point to the Natural Park leads us to propose a gesture of construction of an event, the creation of a place, a virtual plaza around the Tower, by means of a light steel and glass ramp that It provides access to the upper floor of the Tower and the roof that enjoys spectacular views.
Two paths marked in the sand connect us with the road and the bus parking lot next to the town. Attached to this path, a small wooden construction houses public toilets and services.
Preliminary Competition Project carried out in collaboration with Dr. Architect Eduardo Rojas Moyano.
